Just a quick update as to what's going on in the world of YAPS at the moment:
YAPS are currently working with the Victorian Farmers Federation coordinating 5 Climate Change workshops to be run in 2010 across the state. Current venues being investigated include Gippsland, St Arnaud, Wangaratta, Colac and Midlands. Shepparton recently conducted the first of these. More details will be released as dates and speakers are confirmed.
YAPS are currently working with the Victorian Young Farmers to coordinate a Black Tie sit down Dinner to be held in 2010. It is proposed to be held at Serpentine in northern Victoria in the early part of the year, but will be dependant on grant applications. The evening is proposed to have a panel of leading Agricultural Experts answering targeted questions from the audience, as well as a 3-course sit down dinner and band. Camping will be available on site, as well as buses to and from Bendigo. More details will follow once details are confirmed.
As of November 2009 YAPS bid a farewell to committee member Tim Gentle, who retired to take a greater leap in his life outside of YAPS, accepting a role on the Echuca Board of Tourism. YAPS congratulate Tim on his new position, and wish him all the best.
YAPS welcomed Rachael Broad onto the YAPS Staff Team. Rachael is the wife of current VFF President & Past YAPS Committee member Andrew Broad, and has joined YAPS on a volunteer basis to help coordinate the YAPS memberships and day-to-day running's of the YAPS team. YAPS are thrilled to welcome her, and hope she enjoys her time helping us out.
Over the past 12mths YAPS have been undergoing a structural upgrade, aligning the YAPS team with the VFF as a policy council. This is still being finalised, but YAPS hope it to be ready to call for nominations for new committee members at the VFF Conference to be held in Bendigo in mid 2010. If you are interested in becoming a YAPS Committee member please listen out for details early next year as to how to apply.
Other than that YAPS are running smoothly, with many events to be held in 2010 that we will keep you posted on. Hope you are all well and surviving the November heatwave that we are getting here in Northern Victoria. Please see below for three items of interest. If you have any others to add please send them through to me prue.addlem@nvirp.com.au
