Then this Bursary is for you!

The Grassland Society of Southern Australia Inc offer student bursaries valued at $1000 to provide financial assistance to final year students studying agricultural science or farm business management.

The Grassland Society of Southern Australia Inc was established in 1959 to provide a forum for the transfer of information, ideas and experiences related to all aspects of grassland farming. Today the Society has over 1000 members, 60% of which are farmers.

The objectives of the Society are:

  • To provide an opportunity to meet and exchange information, ideas and experiences relating to all aspects of grassland farming
  • To encourage the investigation of problems pertaining to grassland farming and assist in the adoption of advances in research, experimental work and practical experiences
  • To provide an annual travel grant to members to further the development of grassland farming through travel and study programs.
Conditions

To be eligible for a student bursary the following criteria are necessary:

  • Either the student or their family must be a current financial member of the Grassland Society of Southern Australia Inc.
  • The student must be full-time, studying a diploma or degree course in agricultural science or farm business management with subjects that are linked to grassland farming.
  • The student must be in their final year of study.
  • The student must not be in receipt of any other scholarship, grant or cadetship.

Students may join the society in order to be eligible for the Bursary. Student membership set at $44 per annum provides a copy of the conference proceedings and 6 newsletters.

Completed application forms must reach the Grassland Society of Southern Australia Inc office by 30 April with applicants advised of interviews by mid May.

The Society will be looking for students who demonstrate a commitment to pursue a career in the grazing industry. Academic achievements will be taken into consideration with the five best applicants required to attend an interview. Interviews will be conducted in late May and the judging panel will be seeking students with effective communication skills.
